Recent Cakes

Food is definitively my specialty but I have a long way to go before cake decorating is something I am good at.  I have always focused on taste since I HATE bakery cakes and frosting.  I have learned that you can have a pretty cake and good frosting too.  Here are some of what I have done.  Maybe my number #6 (decorated) could be for you?

The first two were from last week end.  I threw a surprise party for my husband turning 30.

 

This next one is carrot cake with my special cinnamon cream cheese frosting.  It was for an Aunt-in-law turning 70.

My niece is at the height of her girly stage and she turned four.  She is all about pinks, purples, fairies and princesses, so when I saw this cake on cakecentral.com, I knew it was the one.  Still working on fondant and gum paste.

 

For my son's birthday we decided to have an UP party and here is the cake I came up with.

 

A friend of mine asked me to make her son and daughter birthday cakes.  They had a combined party and each got to have their own cake.

Ode to the Brownie

My sister once wrote a poem called "Ode to Chocolate Chips". My version would definitely have to be brownies. How can you go wrong. Here I have Brownie Power without the walnuts, Caramel Sea Salt Brownies and Congo Bars. Yum, yum. I had to create tester boxes and send them out before I ate them all.

Graduation Celebration

Even graduation is deserving of some yummy treats. Especially after four years of law school. I don't know if I am more happy for the husband graduating or the wife with two little girls who finally gets her husband back.

Happy Baby Shower in the Air

I had a lot of fun with this one. It was a baby shower for a little unknown sex baby to come. They wanted to do mini desserts and here were some of the shots.

Mini Creme Brulee Shots were a big hit.

We had mini Caramel Apple Cupcakes, a variety of cake pops and truffles, mini creme brulee shots, mini berry pocket pies and baby feet sugar cookies. Lovely.

"B" Baby Shower

We had a great baby shower and it was a surprise too which makes it even better.

The admin luncheon went well. "Z" Birthday Party

The kids loved playing games and writing a birthday message and sending their
balloon into the sky.

We had so much fun at "Z"'s Birthday Party. This little guy turned 3 and we made it a Birthday to remember. It was an "UP" party complete with travel food like granola bars and a picnic dinner and a few goodies too like lemon cake truffles, jello shooters and chocolate covered marshmallows.
